1994 Peugeot 106 XSi 1.6 for sale
Due to me buying a rear wheel drive car I’m selling my brilliant Peugeot 106 XSi! It is a late series 1 with a 1.6 105bhp engine making it slightly rarer than most which are 1.4’s. Due to this it has a nice interior, electric windows, sunroof, elec mirrorrs, remote central locking and keypad immobiliser. It sits on 106 GTI alloys with 2 almost new Kumho tyres at the front and it has a stainless Janspeed backbox. Apart from that it’s standard! It has MOT until Feb 10 and tax until end of Sep ‘09 to it can be used straight away! I’ve owned this car for 8months now and it really has been a joy to drive, great handling, very reliable and economical and really good fun!! The previous owner did alot of work last year – (quoted from the original for sale post): March 08 – oil, oil filter, air filter, fuel filter, spark plugs, front dampers (taken from a low mileage GTi). April 08 – matching GTi rear dampers fitted, new Nissens aluminium rad and new fan switch. June 08 – both front wheel bearings renewed, new front indicators, replacement dashboard, new speedo cable August 08 – complete top end rebuild including a head and valve decoke, This include the renewal of the following items: head gasket, valve stem seals, cam oil seal, inlet manifold seals, exhaust manifold gaskets, rocker cover seal, cambelt, cambelt tensioner, waterpump, head bolts, thermostat, oil filter and oil. September 08 – Raceland stainless steel exhaust manifold fitted. And probably a few other things I cant remember. As you can see I’ve invested a fair amount of time, effort and money to get this car together. Since the top end rebuild the car no longer smokes on startup (a common TU problem) and it uses no oil. The Raceland manifold was fitted because the old items were knackered (manifold broken up internally and down pipe split) and it was cheaper to buy the SS one than the parts from Peugeot – obviously the Raceland item has the benefit of looking good, sounding good and releasing a few more horsies. There are a couple of issues which any old car will have and these don’t detract too much from the overall good condition of the car. The paint of the roof is cracked is a weird way – but this is typical of any 106 of this age! The bonnet has some laquer peel and the bumper has been cracked slightly under the number plate. Overall the car polishes up well and looks good with the black plastic arches contrasting nicely against the bright red paintwork! The centre section of the exhaust sounds like its rattling and also it seems to have twisted round so the hanger slightly vibrates against the under floor causing a vibration to be felt and heard – EASILY fixed, just needs to be loosened and rotated so that it clears the underbody. I just haven’t had the time to get underneath and sort it at the moment. If I get a chance then I can sort it! Also the remote central locking is very tempermental and so I never bother using it because its actually quicker to put the key in the door than stand there for ten mins trying to get it to unlock!! And the keypad immob has been turned off. Another tempermental thing is the fuel gauge – it likes to flicker between working and not working – I think there must a slightly loose wire/dodgy contact somewhere. But the fuel low light always works so at least you know when you’re low!! There is LOADS of service history and the original owners manual booklets too – it seems this has been very well looked after! The mileage is 147k but it really doesn’t feel it and you could mistake it for a lower mileage car (due to the amount of work done to it- it has also had a replacement gearbox a few years back!!) So if your after a cheap to run car, that’s great fun to drive, economical and reliable then look no further than this!! The price is ?850ono Pics: Please note that the pics look pink but the car is a real bright red! The clean interior:
