205 GTI 2.0 16v Gti6 Miami Blue, For Sale for sale

October 31st, 2009

205 GTI6 – £2500 Sadly, I think the time has come to part with my 205, its been a cracking car that has always put a smile on my face, but with a company car and a house that needs finishing, I’m looking to get rid of some ‘toys’ to free up some money and time. I bought it in 2008 as a non runner that had been dry stored for a couple of years. I dropped in a 1.9, then went mad and put the GTI6 lump in over last Christmas. The car was my daily driver until a few months ago, and is a hoot to drive! The car is very straight, and shows no signs of accident damage or corrosion Its Miami Blue, 1992, on a ‘J’ Plate, originally was a 1.6 GTI, now is a 2.0 16v. MOT until the end of May 2010 Tax until the end of November 2009 I’ve tried to remember everything I’ve done to it, but I’m sure I’ve missed a few bits! Engine. 306 GTI6 engine – removed from a rear accident damaged 1997 ph1 GTI6 with 76k on the clock, no tapping, uses no oil or water and starts first time every time. Clutch, cambelt, waterpump, plugs, oil and loads of other bits changed when the engine went in – Jan 09. It had a new radiator and twin fans installed earlier this year. The gearbox is the original 1600 unit, no crunching or grinding and drives fine. The intake has a K&N filter, and the exhaust has just been put back to standard. Suspension. The car is lowered -30mm on Eibach springs, with Bilstine shocks. The rear is lowered to suit on a freshly rebuilt and painted 309 GTI beam. The front has 309 bottom arms fitted with the correct 309 shafts. The hubs have been swapped to 1.9 items, and have the 1.9 brakes with recent pads and disks. The wheels are the lighter Speedlines, blasted and powdercoated in anthracite about a year ago. All four are fitted with Continental Sport Contact 2 Tyres and Locking bolts Body and Interior. Miami Blue, non sun roof, covered just over 95k. The car got a new set of Headlights, bumper, indicators and spotlights at the start of this year to smarten up the front end. Inside are a seat of Limited edition leather seats, the bolsters are good. Its got red seatbelts, central locking and electric windows. It also has a Sony CD player. Bits that need doing. There are a few niggles that I always wanted to sort, but never got round to. 1. There is a annoying dent on the ¾ panel, under the rear side window, a job for dentmaster. 2. The oil temp and pressure gauges are not wired up/don’t work 3. The electric window mechanism on the passenger side needs fitting – still got the manual winder in place 4. The bonnet has a few light scratches, and along with the boot, are a very slightly different shade to the rest of the car. Hard to tell unless in direct sunlight 5. The fuel hose has a section replaced with rubber hose, about a foot long from memory; I intended to replace the lot with new, although it went through its MOT fine with this on. 6. One of the rear arches has been screwed on and has cracked, I have a replacement I’m in no rush to sell, the insurance runs out at the end of November, so if its still here I’ll keep it in the garage until the spring. If you’re interested or have any questions, drop me a PM. The car is located in Harrogate, North Yorkshrie. After looking on here, and on Pistonheads, its hard to gauge how much the car is worth, I know I wont get back anywhere near what I’ve spent on the car, but I think a price of £2500 seems fair looking at the others available.
