306 Gti-6 well looked after super example for sale

October 6th, 2011

Due to a growing family i am selling my Gti-6. It has been a superb car to drive and own since i bought it and will be sadly missed. It has had 3 previous owners and i have owned it for just over 7 years, having purchased it in June 2004. Here are some other details about the car: Mileage: 85500 FSH and loads of detailed paperwork forming a complete picture of the cars past, including paperwork from the former owners, MOT April 2012, Tax May 2012, all the original handbooks in as new condition, two keys and immobiliser card. Every MOT certificate for the car dating back to the first one in 2001. Recent work includes a new battery at 83k, a new radiator at 81k, oil change and several sensors (CTS & thermostat) replaced at 78k. I had some jobs done at 75k to refresh the car which comprised of the cambelt, water pump and auxillary belts being replaced, new rear shocks and beam mounts being fitted, a new lambda sensor, oil & filter change and new brake fluid. At the same time i also fitted a Jetex 2.5" cat back exhaust system and a Quikshift Taipan carbon induction kit with cold air feed. These are the only mods the car has and they really freed the engine up and also give a distinctive sound without ever being too loud or intrusive. They serve to enhance the cars original character rather than draw unwanted attention. The car is very well maintained and looked after both inside and out. It is frequently washed and waxed with high quality products and for its age the the bodywork is in very good condition. There are of course some very small car park dings if you look closely but nothing significant. I have also had the plastic trim on the doors and at the bottom of the boot lid colour coordinated. Standard equipment includes PAS, ABS, electric windows, 6CD changer in boot, immobiliser, front and side airbags and half leather and alcantra seats. Being 13 years old there are of course some bad points to the car that i will point out now. The paint work on the bonnet has in places failed and looks misty – regular attention with the correct cleaning products minimize its appearance but ideally the bonnet needs a respray. The front plastic slam panel (directly under the Peugeot badge) is cracked. A new one from the dealer is £15. I never replaced it because i think it is best to respray the bumper and associated plastic parts along with the bonnet, should you desire to do so. There is a very small area of rust that has formed under the rear window seal. This has been there for several years now and does not appear to be getting any worse. The aircon doesn’t work (highly suspect the front pipes under the radiator need replacing) The car is fitted with the optional electric sunroof which works fine and i always use this in the summer so i don’t really miss the aircon anyway. The remote central locking has stopped working. You need to lock the car manually with the key. The alarm doesn’t sound so i don’t set it. I have always used a Disklok instead as i feel it offers more of a deterent. I have been very honest about the cars faults here and there are no hidden "surprises" to find at a later date. The car is very involving to drive. It responds well to mid corner adjustments in throttle position and is capable of surprising cars much more powerful and expensive that it is. The engine pulls strongly from very low revs, helped in part by the breathing mods, right to the redline in all gears and the six speed box is perfectly spaced and a pleasure to use. It doesn’t burn any oil between services and has always run on V Power. This car scored a maximum 5 star award from Evo magazine and was the benchmark in hot hatch handling for its time. Compared to more modern hot hatches (of which i have owned or driven several, including the Leon Cupra R, Megane 225 and MK5 Golf Gti) the Gti-6 still puts a huge smile on my face everytime i drive it. It is a rewarding car to drive! This is a great example of hot hatch that is only getting rarer. It has genuine low mileage, has been very well looked after and if you know the right people or don’t mind getting you hands dirty the few issues it does have can be relatively cheaply and easily resolved. In its current condition it is still superior to the vast majority of gti-6’s that are left. I have been a member of the owners club for many years and would recommend it – 306gti6.com – as a invaluable source of information and advice on the car. I also have a roof rack for the car that i will be including with the sale, along with all the original fixtures and fittings for the standard airbox. Having invested a lot of time over many years of ownership i know the car inside out. There will be very few better chances to own a Gti-6 as good as this one. £1980 ono My car is also for sale on Pistonhead’s with nine pictures attached for those who are interested – http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/3303125.htm I have now bought my new car and need to sell this one relatively quickly so i am open to sensible offers.
