Ford Escort XR3i Cabriolet SE500 ‘All Blue’ special edition. I bought the car a few weeks ago on the premise of getting her up and running for the forthcoming summer as a daily drive but i don’t have time to muck around with cars and should get something that lives upto my family man status …… and as much as it pains me to say sadly i s’pose she’s right hence she’ll have to be on her way. The car is finished in Pacfica Blue that the ‘All Blue’ came in. The car is a June 1990 car but is fitted with a personalised plate (A18 MPD) which is worth a few quid on it’s own and the windows are etched with this reg too. The Blue mohair hood that should be fitted is gone but the black hood is in excellent condition with no rips, tears or damage to speak of altough it does leak slightly at the top of the screen in hard rain. The hood is electric and works well and has a grey tonneau cover for when the tops down. The paintwork is in good order but does have the odd marks, scratches and little dings consumerate with a twenty year old car you’d expect. The paint runs a little thin in a couple of places due to over polishing i’d say and the lacquer has lifted on the scuttle panel in a few places. There is a small crack in the front bumper that’s not too noticeable but she has all her original panels. Rust wise; she is very solid with only a small 5p size whole in the spare wheel well. The battery tray is original and has surface rust although is solid. On gettting the car the floor was wet through guess this has got this way over time) so i took the seats out carpets up and lifted the soundproofing expecting to find loads of rot but it is absolutely rock solid with no rust at all. Chassis numbers are untamperd, the VIN tags are untampered and all said and done this is a very sound, honest, original car. The unique leather trim has definitely seen better days unfortunately which is a shame. The drivers seats has completely collapsed and was being held up with cushions when i got it but i’ve since acquired a colth seat from an XR3i and put a cover over it. (I still have the drivers seat if the winning bidder should like to look into repair). The passenger seat is fitted and is OK but the lower bolster seat is a little worn and cracked but would come up with a bit of saddle soap. The rear seats is not in bad condition but does have a little tear on the upper bolster. The carpet is clean and the dash has a few drill holes but i will through in a nigh on mint cabby dash to the winning bidder. The car is fitted with a RS 3 spoke leather steering wheel although the wheel is worn and could do with a recover. There is a Sony CD player, ‘Fury front speakers and a pair of Kenwoods in the rear pods. The engine starts first time and runs well. It’s a little bit noisy on the top end like the usual CVH is but runs OK. bought it locally and drove it home 20 miles without problem. A chrome rocker cover, K&N 57i induction kit and Magnex backbox is fitted. The car has a Sigma alarm and immobiliser fitted. A great car for spares but i’d hope the car will get repaired and restored back to OE spec as i hoped to. Points to mention; well there is a loud knock coming from the transmission tunnel (the centre box of the exhuast is knocking) when pulling away and under really hard acceleration and the n/s window does not work. The car has MOT’s back to 2002 and a few bills for work carried out. There is currently no MOT (ran out in March) but is taxed til end of Aug. The V5 is still in the previous owners name as i wasn’t too sure whether it would go down to well with the Mrs but i will give a full receipt with my name and address. I could send of the logbook to put it in my name but it’d be another name on the logbook for nothing IMO. Gutted to let her go as this is a great project and will make a very nice car with a little time and attention. £495
